I get something mental to worry about every week. Pulled out the Spain programme last week. Now, in the midst of moaning colleagues and contract upheaval and feeling like everyone hates me for having my contract renewed I get an interview… More hours, more salary, less travel, more responsibility but in essence the same job. If I get this I walk away from a bloody shite situation and the only thing I would regret is not being able to work with the same kids… Nice confidence boosts but I have to make it known I’m going to an interview when they have given me a contract, but to be fair I wouldn’t have even applied for the job if they hadn’t have fucked around with the your fired/ your hired attitude. Anyway, excited…

6 Years ago Queens of the Stone Age pushed me kicking and screaming, drinking, puking and blazing through shit times with the last album. It’s like they come right when I need them. Just went up to have some whiskey for breakfast with my Dad and I wish I had done it sooner. It’s so beautiful in that churchyard. It’s June and it bursts with life in the sun, next to that 1000 year old, mix-matched church there’s so many different proud old trees and gargoyles and tombs all surrounded by meadow like grass. it’s like the bloody garden of Eden. Got bit by an ant sat in the grass, the bastard.

“At least your not in my position” I feel that’s what he would say. Could have sat there all day but I think one swig was enough and I’m not so unholy as to pass out there. For the first time I really let my feelings out, even though I’ve gone up alone before. I want to take my guitar up these summer nights and just be myself with him. I think his advice is what made me deal with things the way I used to do, strong and inspiring. Just lately I feel, without him I have panicked too much and acted too irrationally. Feel better for now… All these blurry events of the past year seem to make more sense and I know that to be myself I have to let all the love that he showed me come through and show it to everyone I know and love. Fucking hell haha

Every time I try to sleep I dream that everything is brilliant and then during my dream something devastating happens which ruins it. I then put all my energy at it until I’m physically exhausted into making things right, and it becomes great again. The cycle repeats until I wake up sweating.

I’m so helpless to keep the things I love. They all just leave some way or another and all I can do is let them free and learn nothing new, because all I ever did for those things was love them and tread so carefully as to keep them close to my heart. It’s like the great fucking punishment of life. Forcing you to move on where you never want it and holding you back where you need to be getting away.
